Be Your Own Nap Captain

Remember back in kindergarten when you’d come in from recess and grab your mat, and then it was naptime???

What if I told you napping isn’t just for toddlers (or old people! ๐Ÿ˜†)ย

I love a good nap… and guess what?!? …they’re good for you!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Maybe I’m just getting old ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Or maybe we need to pay attention to this… ๐Ÿค”

So I wake up SUPER early (which is a whole separate story I might tell you about someday because I used to HATE mornings!๐Ÿคฎ) and sometimes during the day, I get a little sleepy… especially if I’m working on my computer – which is ALWAYS… and my eyes start to get really heavy. ๐Ÿ˜ต

I used to fight it, and I’d end up struggling my way through whatever I was working on, half focused, brain drifting, everything taking longer;and then one day I just dozed.

I woke up about 15 minutes later and felt amazing and full of energy. ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿคธโ€โ™€๏ธ

You know what that is.

It’s a POWER-NAP. ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ

AND THEY WORK !!!

Sometimes in the middle of a stressful day, a few minutes of peace and calm is just what the doctor ordered. ๐Ÿ‘

Now you might be wondering why a nap would be one of the prescriptions from The Doctor of Fun …

So let me clarify how I define FUN as The Doctor of Fun:

Fun isn’t always about throwing parties or cracking jokes or being loud and spontaneous or wild and crazy; it doesn’t even mean you have to be out somewhere with other people.

Fun is an attitude. ๐ŸŽˆ

It’s choosing to live life with a lighter perspective, to appreciate the humor all around us, even when things go wrong.

It’s learning to laugh at yourself, not feel so burdened by heavy things.

It’s appreciation. It’s seeing the joy and the gift. ๐ŸŽ

Forgiveness and kindness. Generosity and good manners.

It’s being open-minded, honest, and doing the right thing.ย

It’s taking good care of yourself – physically and mentally… so you can be at your best. ๐Ÿ•บ

And if that means taking a nap, well then that’s all part of the fun.

Think about it… as adults we have WAAAAAYYYY more things bearing down on us, stressing us out, creating anxiety… and we don’t even TAKE recess!! (alas, another subject for yet another time!) …why in the world didย we stop taking naps when we needย itย most?? ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

Because we don’t have time? Because it’s frowned upon?

What if it allowed us to be more productive – therefore SAVING time!? ๐Ÿš€ What if it sharpened our focus, improved our mood and our memory? ๐ŸŽฏ What if it helped us relax more and not feel so stressed all the time?! ๐Ÿฅฐ

According the Mayo Clinic, short naps can bring all these things!

TRY IT!

And expand your definition of FUN…

When we put ourselves in position to WIN in every aspect of life… when we behave in a way that makes a positive contribution, it spreads, it touches others in a positive way, people are nicer, the world is better and LIFE IS MORE FUN! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ˜

So it really all comes down to your perspective. How do you choose to react to the things that happen? It takes practice, and there are certainly tools and a framework and some secret sauce to help you “funify” your life… so stay on this channel; I’ve got a bunch more tricks up my sleeve coming your way!

Now if you’ll excuse me, my eyes are getting heavy…๐Ÿฅฑ it’s time for my n

Oh Megan, that sounds so fun! But how to wake up in 15 minutes? My eyelids start to droop, and I’m out. And I’m OUT for 3 hours! So, just let me know if you have good wake-up ideas!

    1. Leslie!! hahahaha!! That is the danger… !! You have to set an alarm! As soon as you feel you are about to give in the heavy eyelids, just set an alarm for approx 20-25 minutes from that moment… doing that usually wakes you up slightly, but typically within about 5-10 minutes you’ll be nodding off again, and your alarm is ready!! Try it and let me know how that works for you!!
